Quick Thoughts 12-12-24

blog

• 24 is 12+12 and today is 12-12-24. something about that feels right and makes my heart feel good.

• I feel so much lighter mentally being off of social media (been off since 12/1)

• Focusing on letting go and minding my own business- not everything needs to be analyzed

• Kindness goes a long way

• Sometimes we don’t understand because we aren’t meant to

Good Morning, Good Life. 11•29•24

blog

It’s the second to last day of November, which means the end of the year is upon us. It also means it’s now officially Christmas, so don’t mind me obsessing over lights and other cute decorations for the rest of the winter season LOL. As we come to a close on 2024, I can’t help but feel so grateful and emotional looking back at this incredible year!

This year was all about our wedding, which makes sense considering my husband proposed a year and four days ago. In March, I went dress shopping with my mom and close friends and I was lucky enough to find my wedding dress! Not only was it the first dress I tried on, but it was also on clearance for $90! I remember I had a night out with a couple of my high school besties that night too, and it was just such a great time!

In July, me and those same two friends went to Minneapolis to see Qveen Herby live in concert! This was one of my dream concerts and I got to see her with my best friends on the day before my birthday!!! Then on my birthday we all went shopping at the Mall of America and just had so much fun! That experience also offered opportunities for me to reflect and grow, and I am so thankful to have these memories.

At the end of September, my now husband and I flew down to Florida to start our wedding trip!! We were able to spend a few days in Pensacola Beach just chilling with my family and then we had his family and our friends trickle in before the actual wedding day. I’m honestly so glad we had a pre-vacation prior to our wedding- highly recommend this! Then at sunset on 10/2/2024, we said our “I do’s” and celebrated our marriage with all of our closest loved ones. We celebrated with a nice dinner afterwards and enjoyed a fun night!

After the wedding we went over to Orlando and enjoyed Harry Potter World before we left in a hurry due to hurricane Milton, and honestly we were so happy to come home and just be with our fur babies in our own bed. We had our Til Death Do Us Party a couple weeks after we got back, and since then we’ve just been enjoying the quiet after all the busyness.

We were invited to our friends’ home yesterday for Thanksgiving, and we enjoyed a delicious meal with them and their kids- this was honestly my favorite Thanksgiving so far! I never enjoyed the holiday as a kid because I don’t like any of the classic Thanksgiving food, but honestly this year I tried the ham my friend made and it was good! She did a great job and I was happy to see other side options rather than the stuffing and green bean casserole I usually avoid.

I know I only listed a few core events of this year, but these few events have made 2024 one of, if not the best year of my life. I also knew it would be, mainly because we were getting married, but it’s still so great that I had so much time with great friends and family this year. My heart and soul are just feeling so full, and I’m excited to see what the rest of the year brings.

There’s still a whole month left of memories to make, and now that it’s Christmastime, it’s the most wonderful time of the year!!🎄♥️✨

Friday // Full Moon

blog

Good morning! Today is a great day to stay grounded in your energy and intention. The full moon is here, it’s Friday, and you get to choose how you feel today.

I personally am feeling great as I type this in my warm bed. I’m gonna get ready for work here soon and after work I’m meeting up with a friend for a late lunch! I’m excited to catch up with her.

This full moon I am really leaning into faith in my angels, but also in myself. I have the ability to create the life I desire- I mean I’ve literally done that so far! I often find myself hiding behind limiting beliefs and unhealed wounds from childhood, but I am actively embracing my shadow self and working to shed light on the darker parts of me.

We’re all humans, we all have parts of us that we have been ashamed or embarrassed of, but hiding them away and trying to ignore them won’t make them go away. We have to acknowledge our pain and shame, and give ourselves patience and understanding for who we were.

Everything in your life has led you to this moment- be sure to honor it all.

Sunshine and Iced Coffee

blog

Happy Sunday!

The sun is shining and my iced coffee was extra satisfying this morning, so no complaints here. What you focus on expands, so keep that in mind today while you let your thoughts wander. May you find beauty and peace in the most unexpected places, and may you give yourself the same love and grace you give others. Sending love and positivity to everyone this Sunday. ♡

Good Morning, Wednesday

blog

I’m so tired this morning as I write this, but wanted to take a moment for gratitude.

I’m grateful for my job, as I am blessed to not work in a toxic environment any longer.

I am grateful for my health, as I can do all things on my own without assistance which is a huge blessing.

I am grateful for my husband, who is respectful, kind, and supportive of me and who I am.

I am grateful for our financial state, although there is always room to improve, we are blessed to be where we are today.

What we choose to see, we will see more of. When we are grateful, we will see all of the blessings around us. I choose to see the light in the world, and I choose to recognize just how blessed I am.

Life, Love & Faith

blog

I’ve been thinking a lot about my relationship with the divine. I say the divine, the universe, source, angels…I have been hesitant about using the word “God” for most of my life, until recently.

I think my main issue with using “God” is that it comes off that there is one powerful entity that is above all, which sounds quite narcissistic and really just wrong. I have never been a devout Christian, and although my parents claim they may have been at one point, I never really saw it.

As a child I watched Veggie Tales and sang in the church choir as I collected my Precious Moments angels and pretended to understand the verses that were read to me during my first couple years of being home-schooled. I sang “Jesus Loves Me” with all of the other kids in my Sunday school classes and really just looked forward to the cookies and juice that came after service. I had zero concept on what the higher power was.

When I was seven, I was told that my Grandpa had gone to heaven to be with God. The person who pulled me around on the sled in the snow, who always let me have that extra pudding cup, and who always let me sit on his lap in his comfy rocking chair had left to be with God. This crushed me and honestly I think this is where my disconnect with “God” came from.

At such a young age, I recognized the permanence that death brought. I remember feeling so helpless and devastated at the funeral, just knowing that I would never be able to speak to my grandfather again while my physical body was here on earth. I was so confused and hurt, and really just overwhelmed by all of the heavy feelings my tiny seven-year-old body was enduring.

As years went by, there was no more going to church, and no more reading the children bibles, as I had finally started public school at age eight. The last memory I had in a church as a kid was throwing up violently while singing hymns while visiting my family in Iowa- so it kind of makes sense why I never really wanted to go back.

When I was in seventh grade, my mother became interested in “The Secret.” I remember her loving the book and she even encouraged me to read it. As the people-pleaser that I was, I did decide to read it, but at age twelve I hardly got what I needed from it. I remember it feeling very boring to me, other than this story about a special feather that had me kind of interested.

The whole book is really about the Law of Attraction. The person in the book was sharing different stories and wisdoms and at one point they start talking about a drawing of a feather. If I remember this correctly, someone had drawn up a very intricate, colorful feather that was not from any real bird on this earth. This person would look at this drawing of the feather every day and apparently one day they ended up seeing this exact feather outside.

I just remember feeling like there was no way this was possible, but also feeling like I wanted to be hopeful that it was. My mom and I always enjoyed watching shows like “Long Island Medium” and “Psychic Kids,” but my dad would always say how all of it was fake and staged. It was hard to trust really in anything, because it definitely all felt real, but without scientific proof, was any of it real?

This is something that I still battle with to this day; I love to believe in the magic of the world, but part of me often still craves that solid evidence. As I write this, I think it stems from a lack of trust within myself. I often will have gut feelings about certain things, and because I don’t have solid evidence I will ignore it or try to push it away. However, there have been times where I have felt like even though I have no true proof that signs or synchronicities are real, I have enough proof for myself to believe and have faith in a higher power. As I continue to grow and heal, I find myself leaning back into faith in something bigger than us.

When I think of a higher power, I see it as a large light that lives within each and every one of us. I believe that we are truly a collective, and the more that humans can lean into this light or “soul,” the better the world will become. The more we can lean into empathy and compassion, the more we can truly connect and communicate with others around us. The more understanding we have of one another’s struggles and challenges, the more we recognize how we are more alike than we are different.

For the longest time I would write off the signs I’d see as being “delusional” or I’d just remind myself of the confirmation bias that our brains naturally have. However, now I am working on letting go of the shame/doubts I’ve had, and instead I am fully leaning into faith. I have been so blessed and protected in this life, especially in these last few weeks, that I can’t help but to believe and trust in a higher power.

I am so grateful to live the life that I do today, and as much as I can thank myself for all of the hard work I’ve done, I’d also like to thank the universe for all of the work that was done in the background. I feel so blessed to be married to my best friend, a kind and respectful man who loves me for me. We are in good health and we have a roof over our heads. We have great friends and family who love and support us. Life is so good and I am so grateful to be present for it all. Thank you, thank you, thank you. 🤍

Stop and Just Be

blog

Today I went inside Dunkin’ to order coffee, because the drive thru line was insane. Once I was inside I was able to order right away and went over to the pick up area to wait for my drinks. The cold brew for my fiancé came out quickly, and then I was just waiting on my iced coffee. A line of people start forming by me as they are also awaiting their orders, and the start minutes going by. Turns out they had run out of iced coffee, so they were working on making another batch. The beeping of the machines was so loud and felt never-ending, and the staff was all moving around quickly doing each of their duties as best as they could with the circumstances.

As I was sitting there, I started thinking about the experience as a metaphor for life. Being in that restaurant, as overstimulating as it was, was really just showing me the art of patience and mastering our own minds. Whether the employees decide to get frustrated or customers decide to get angry, nothing was going to change. Yelling and being upset is not going to make the iced coffee come faster. Giving up and throwing in the towel was not going to stop the mobile orders receipts from piling up. As much as it can feel like “when it rains, it pours,” how we shift our mindset and process our emotions is key.

There is so much external sh*t in our lives that we cannot control. The more time we spend trying to control our external environment, the more we are ignoring our inner world. Instead of focusing on how long the wait is or why the staff didn’t make iced coffee “fast enough,” why not focus on the fact that you are still having your iced coffee made for you. Why not focus on the fact that you’re lucky enough to not be behind that counter with the stress of having customers scream around you for things you’re actively trying to fix. When we focus on what is within our control (aka our mindset/perspective) we can become less rigid and overwhelmed by life.

There are things in life that you truly can never prepare for. Things like becoming a parent, having a parent pass away, witnessing an unexpected tragedy- these are beyond our control, yet we still have to live with the results. Life will continue to throw challenges our way, which is why mental health and emotional wellbeing are so important. The more we understand ourselves and how we process certain things, the more we can support ourselves during the journey of life.

Being able to have a more positive perspective or being able to lean into faith and letting go allows for less tension and suffering in our minds and bodies. Worrying about things beyond our control only fuels fear and robs us of the peace and joy we can find in the present moment. I have been actively trying to be more present in my life, and I know that there is so much comfort in stepping back and getting out of survival mode.

I could have become irritable and impatient waiting for my iced coffee, and I could have even used the excuse of all of the chaos that ensued in my life over this past week, but what was that going to do for me? Encourage my misery? Allow me to stay in a victim mentality? Instead I tapped into this “life imitates art” moment and recognized the metaphor in front of me. There is peace in letting go- whether it’s letting go of expectations, outcomes, or the need to control the situations around you, you’ll find that there is a feeling of content that washes over you when you stop and just be.

Lessons

blog

Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

If there’s anything I wish I would have learned or known earlier, it’s that I should be keeping my own peace, not everyone else’s. I didn’t need to stay sheltered away, hiding my true feelings and thoughts as a way to make sure I never made anyone else feel uncomfortable. I didn’t need to keep saying “yes” to things out that I really wanted to say “no” to, because a fake yes is really just a resentful one, and no one wants that either.

I wish I had recognized just how toxic “people-pleasing” was, because in reality, it’s manipulative and completely inauthentic. It makes so much sense to me now, and I see how avoiding potential conflict just delays having any sort of meaningful conversations and connections. I also see how wild it is to put so much on your plate to be “helpful” for others, just to burn out and feel resentful when, in reality, you didn’t have to help in the first place.

It’s much better to be open and honest if you want to create and true friendships/relationships. It’s important to be mindful and intentional with our words, and that does include saying how we feel and sharing our own opinions so that we can authentically connect with others. If you share your true self with someone and they don’t like it, now you both have the ability to decide if it is a relationship worth keeping.

I never needed to deny my own gut feelings or opinions, I have always been allowed to share them. I know in the past I struggled a lot more with self-worth, so it was much harder to deal with the thought of losing a friendship. Now, as I have been healing and learning more about myself, I’d rather have real friends who truly know and support the real me.

I know who I am and how much I care about others, and I know that my close connections deserve to know the real me. I now am able to say “no” to things without feeling guilty, I am able to express an opinion that could be rough to hear and not be worried or afraid, because I know I am being true to myself.

I am an open-minded person, and I am able to empathize, but I also have to have boundaries to remain healthy. It has been quite a journey, but I vow to myself that I will no longer dim my own light or make myself small for the sake of “keeping the peace.” Instead I will focus on keeping my own peace, and that means being completely honest and authentic.

Friday Feels

blog

Happy Friday the 13th!

I know most people feel like today is superstitious and unlucky, but I am the opposite. Today I am feeling blessed, grateful, and overall full of love! The wedding is only 19 days away and I am so ready to be married to my fiancé.

I also cannot get over that we’re getting married on our 13th anniversary, and 13 has always been his lucky number. We also happen to have a new moon solar eclipse the day of our wedding! Although we won’t see the eclipse, it’s exciting to have a celestial event going on during our special day!

Everything feels like divine timing and alignment, and I am so happy to be present to it all.

9/9 – Completion

blog

Today is 9/9 and we all know how much I love repeating numbers! I have only scratched the surface of numerology and astrology, but I do follow some accounts on Instagram and they are talking about how this 9 signifies completion of a cycle/journey.

Today is a great day to take time to reflect on your journey so far, celebrating what has brought you to this current moment. It’s also a great time to release anything that is no longer serving your highest self. This gives us a nice transition into our next cycle, where we can realign our focus to what is important for us now, in this new chapter.

Today I am so proud of where I am. My relationship with my fiancé, my friendships, my workplace- all is feeling abundant and well. My mental health has improved greatly over the recent years, and I am so grateful that I’ve stayed dedicated to improving my mental health and learning to love myself.

I am releasing the tension and fears that keep me stagnant and obsessive, as I know I can lean into my intuition and I can trust myself to handle anything that comes my way. I am releasing the fearful “future-thinking” that keeps me away from the present moment where I am safe and supported. I am releasing the trust issues I have with myself, and I am leaning into the trust I have with the divine.

I am so grateful for this life. I am grateful for this love. I am grateful for the support all around me, both in the physical world and beyond. I’ve dreamt of these days, and I am grateful to be present to enjoy them. 🤍
