Friday Feels

blog

Despite the gloomy weather, I woke up feeling good! It’s largely because my husband and I both took the day off together, but I also just dropped the second episode of my podcast! I’ve kept it on the down low at work, mainly because word travels fast and people loooveee to make assumptions and be nosey as shit, but my friends and family know about it! I’m just feeling so excited and joyful around the fact that I finally launched the podcast after years of talking about it.

Saturday 4/4: I did a thing

blog

Soooo I finally did a thing….

I finally published my podcast!!! Adventures of the 9 to 5 is now available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! Although it’s really only one episode and a couple blurbs right now, I am excited to record more and hopefully build a community where we can all share our stories and also share what we have all learned from our jobs and experiences.

I honestly recorded the episode that is out now back in December. I was letting my perfectionism get in the way by not letting myself post unless I had a backlog of content, but I then got myself stuck in a freeze state and never recorded anything else. I felt like the only way to break the cycle was to just f*cking send it LOL!

I’m feeling excited and grateful for my friends who are so supportive! I’m also thinking about starting another blog / site that is for my podcast specifically! For now I am working on more content for my Instagram page and I am hoping to record a couple more episodes this month!

If you’re interested, you can search “Adventures of the 9 to 5” on Apple podcasts and/or Spotify! Also, you can search me on Instagram @Adventuresofthe9to5!

Just A Happy Sunday

blog

Today was such a nice day, despite the weather being windy and cloudy. My husband and I went to a very late breakfast at our usual spot, which was delicious as always! Prior to that I started laundry, took care of the dishes as well as the garbage (these are normally my husband’s chores, but I was feeling motivated this morning LOL) and I picked up the groceries! It was nice to have all of that done early in the morning.

This afternoon I decided to make some juice for the week, which are all f*cking delicious! I love when I have my husband try new juice recipes and seeing how he lights up after trying each one! I’ll post the pictures I put on my snapchat story below!

Overall, today was such a great day! We’re gonna have some dinner soon and I may do some diamond beading after that. I was thinking about finally starting an audiobook I downloaded a while ago, but I also may just listen to a true crime podcast like I usually do. I’m determined to make this week ahead a good week! Sending love and good vibes to everyone!

Monday AM: Blizzard Edition

blog

I called (well, texted) into work today, because we are in the middle of a blizzard warning. Most of my way to work is open roads by huge fields with no street lights; considering the weather apps say there are high winds, whiteout conditions, and half of the street view cameras I look at are down, I decided it’s not worth risking my life to go to work.

I also woke up feeling nauseous, but that is also because of my anxiety around traveling in this weather. I barely slept because I kept waking up checking for weather updates or seeing if they closed my job for the day- clearly not LOL!

I used to feel really guilty if I had to call off for anything, but now I don’t. I know I work hard, I am very blessed that my husband can work from home, and I can afford to take a day off so I can avoid traveling in horrible conditions. My coworker said she was going 20mph the entire way to work and the snow was blowing completely sideways! Luckily she made it in safely and will now deal with all of the cancellations that are inevitable.

As for me, I’m going back to bed. I’m grateful to be in the situation I am where I can take a day off when I need to and I don’t have to suffer in my work or personal life. I’m also grateful to be able to lay next to the love of my life in our comfortable bed. Life is quite beautiful.

Wednesday Words

blog

I woke up finally feeling a lot better after feeling like shit the last couple days! I fell asleep at 7pm last night, woke up at 10pm really confused LOL but was happy to be able to go back to sleep for several hours.

This morning I was extremely grateful that I was feeling up for a shower and an iced coffee! I am convinced that the eclipse and full moon had something to do with this. I heard some woo-woo gal talking about how sometimes when we are feeling off or numb in our julian bodies, that is because our spirit/soul is out doing work in the spiritual realm to prepare for your next chapter here on Earth. I love me some magical woo-woo stuff so I am here for that explanation!

This just feels like a transformational year in general, and I know that love, light and God will prevail against all evil. Truths will continue to be revealed, the collective will continue to awaken and rise, and we were all born to be here during this time. I have faith it was all for a reason, and I will continue to have faith over fear.

March Blessings

blog

Happy March!

I always love the first of the month, as it symbolizes a new beginning! Today, the sun is shining, I get to go to my best friend’s baby shower, and my husband has his go-karting race this evening! We have a day centered around joy, blessings and the people we love.

This month I want to focus more on being present, being creative, and being joyful. The world is always going to have chaos and tragedy, and we deserve to enjoy all of the beautiful things life has to offer. I find myself happy when I am laughing in the presence of good company, and I also find joy in doing a simple craft alone in peace.

When I find myself getting worked up about anything, I need to start pausing and questioning “what is actually in my control in this moment.” I hope my first thought would be my breath, so I can actually take a few deep breaths to get back to center. My body doesn’t deserve to hold onto all this stress and tension, especially when most things I am stressed about are beyond my control.

I pray March brings a newfound sense of faith and spirituality, by allowing me to let go of any fears, doubts or tensions I may have been holding onto.

I pray March restores faith in humanity, showing the goodness and light that is amongst us all- and may we spread love and light ourselves.

I pray March is full of miracles and blessings, showing us all how truly beautiful life can be.

Thank you, thank you, thank you ♡

Hello February

blog

Today is the start of a new month, and it also happens to be Sunday, and we have a full moon! This feels like a few different fresh beginnings and I am here for it!

Yesterday was so much fun! I loved catching up with my friend at starbucks, and I also loved hanging with my other friends doing diamond by number crafts! The canvases look hella intimidating at first, and honestly I am nowhere near done, but once you start doing it, it’s so easy to just get into flow state and keep going!

We had run to the dollar store before starting our crafts to grab little plastic organizers for our diamonds/beads, and we happened to find tiny keychain versions of diamond by numbers! We ended up each picking out one and my friend grabbed one for her daughter, as well as another small paint by number and we had a successful trip!

Today I’m catching up with my high school BFF at breakfast and I’m so excited to see her and enjoy a delicious omelette! She’s pregnant and her baby shower is a month away so I’m super happy for her and can’t wait to hear about how everything is going!

Later on my husband will go to his parents house for family dinner, and some point before or after that I will need to touch up his hair (I retwist his locs and I definitely skipped last weekend). I just feel like today is going to be a great day, and I’m just feeling so very blessed.

Stressing and Blessings

blog

I had quite an overwhelming day at work, and when I got home it was a bit chaotic with bringing in the groceries while urgently having to use the bathroom. I am also a week out from my period so I’m starting my PMS moodiness and I’m just super stressed and exhausted. To be honest, it really felt like everything was too much.

My husband knows I’ve been stressed at work and he also saw how overstimulated I was. I was starting to unpack the groceries and he stopped me. He asked for a hug and held me, but honestly I was kind of being a jerk and wasn’t fully participating in this hug the way I normally would- I was sulking and just limp while he held me.

He told me to take off my shoes and go get out of my work clothes, but before he let me go change, he asked if I could give him a real hug, which I did this time. He thanked me and again instructed that I go get in some comfortable clothing and sit down for a bit. He also mentioned that our cat decided to take a “soupy poop” on our bed and that he was going to clean that up after he put away the groceries.

Although he told me that our cat decided to basically diarrhea on our bed, my brain was so frazzled and probably in freeze that it didn’t fully process. So of course I went into our bedroom and plopped down on the bed and ended up putting my arm right in nasty ass cat shit.

Yup. First every motherf*cking company in America changed which dental insurance they are offering to their employees keeping me busy as hell, but now this?! CAT SHIT ON MY ARM?! What a day, right? As expected, I fully crashed tf out: I screamed out loud to myself that I was a “FUCKING IDIOT” and ran to the bathroom to burn my arm off with scolding hot water and antibacterial soap.

My husband of course hears all of this commotion and asked what happened from the other room, to which I yelled: “I JUST LAID IN THE CAT SHIT” like the a demure girly I am. He came in the room as I was drying my arm off and asked me if I could please sit down while gently reminding me that I’m doing that thing where if I don’t stop, things are going to keep going wrong and getting worse. Arguably, he was correct: I really just needed to sit down…preferably not in feces.

He sat on our little, old bedroom couch with me and told me not to worry about cleaning the bed or putting away the groceries and to just stay put and re-center. He went to finish putting all of the food away, and I actually I did what he said. I sat. I got angry. I punched the air. I shook my body to try to get the anger out. I cried. I cried harder. I stopped to re-focus on my breath. Felt like I might puke. Didn’t puke. Cried more. Started softening my breathing again. Let my head lean into the big pillow I was holding onto. Let more tears fall. They stopped falling. I relaxed.

After actually sitting through probably five minutes of just letting my emotions rise and fall, I felt so much relief. My body felt less tense and much lighter, although still pretty exhausted as expected. My husband came back in to check on me and we just talked calmly about work and what I can/can’t control and when we were interrupted by the alarm to give our diabetic cat her insulin, he told me to go jump in the shower and he’d take care of her.

Now, I just need to take a moment to say; BLESS THIS MAN AND HIS ENTIRE SOUL. Don’t get me wrong, I literally always feel that way about him (that’s why tf I married him, duh), but in this moment after this wild ass day, I couldn’t help but feel so grateful for him and our marriage.

When I was a kid and I’d have reactions or loud emotions, I was called dramatic and shamed for them; my husband has never done that to me. Unfortunately, I actually still do that to myself sometimes, which is another reason why this moment felt so important: I actually let myself have all of my emotions with no judgement.

My husband has always loved me and been there for me through the best and worst times of my life over the last 14 years. I have never felt his love waiver, I have always felt respected, and I am truly so lucky and grateful to have such a wonderful human as my life partner. It’s so easy for me to love him, but it hadn’t always been easy to love myself. Over the years, his love for me has shown me that I am easy to love, and deserving of it, just for being me, and for that I am forever thankful.

First Sunday in January

blog

The sun is shining, and I’m in bed soaking up the most of this rest I can before this busy’s week at work. Today is my brother-in-laws birthday, and we’re all having family dinner over at my in-laws place. Technically we will do a late lunch/early dinner as my husband has his first go-karting race of the season this evening! He races with one of our friends and I am hoping they can start off the season strong!

I’ve been trying to balance social media usage and I as much as I like making my reels and being on Instagram, I really think I need to just delete the app off my phone and take a break for a bit. I always notice when I return from a long break that I don’t have the same impulses to go click the app and scroll anymore, so I feel like that reset is needed. I can still be creative IRL as well as here on my blog.

It’s crazy how addicting social media is, and I am working on a creative project where I have a separate IG page for that endeavor, but I literally can just work on making content / posts from my iPad and then just login to schedule any posts, and log back off. I put limits on my phone for apps too, but I’m terrible and will just not listen to them so I feel like I just need a reset.

May everyone have a wonderful week ahead, and may we all remind ourselves that we are only one person and we can only do so much. We all deserve grace and the same respect and love we give to others.
