A Moment

I took a moment this morning to pause and set myself in the shoes of those who are anxious and angry right now- this is what came about:

Imagine getting ripped away from your family, or watching yours get ripped away from you. 

Imagine fearing going to work or walking down the street because you think you may get mistakenly arrested or even kidnapped by your own goverment. 

Imagine not knowing what tomorrow holds for you or your family… this is how so many people are feeling at this time. 

If you don’t understand, then you’re blessed not to, so take time to recognize that. Before you judge someone for how they are handling their fears and the chaos that is around them, take a moment to remember how humans operate in survival mode. Take a moment to think about what you’d do if you saw your own parent/sibling/child was taken from you. 

We are all HUMAN BEINGS on the SAME PLANET. No one should be treated as less than the other. Sending love to all of my friends who are feeling extra anxious and fearful at this time. sending love to everyone who is impacted by the riots and ICE and whatever tf is going on with our government right now. 

I am privileged to be so “disconnected” from this by not watching the news, but in my soul I can feel the weight of this collective fear, and I cannot remain silent. again, we’re all humans on this planet, and we all deserve to live loving, peaceful, and free lives. 

Friday Feels (1-31-25)

I’ve been purposely ignoring the news and the internet, and I am aware that is a privilege to be able to just turn it all off. My mental health deteriorates when I constantly focus on negativity and fear-based content, and lately that’s all the news seems to be (at least from what I am hearing from people around me).

People feel the need to watch the news to stay informed and society tells them they’re a bad citizen if they aren’t paying attention, but are we even getting correct information? How can one news channel have such different perspectives and views than the other? Where are just the facts and the resources?

This is why I don’t participate, and instead I am focusing on my own health and well-being. I can’t very well help anyone in this world if my own cup isn’t even full- and that’s a common problem I’m seeing. Everyone is stressed and scared, so they’re on a constant loop of scrolling and watching in the name of “being informed,” but it’s mentally exhausting and crippling everyone from actually being able to use a rational headspace to just pause and think.

Making yourself physically ill from consuming traumatic images and videos constantly is NOT helping the world or society. Scaring yourself into a panic attack or any impulsive decisions is NOT helping the world or society. Society may be pressuring you to consume, but remember who is benefiting from that. Fear sells, but love wins.

We need to pause and regroup back into love and light. Recognize the blessings and come together with compassion and curiosity. Open your mind and hearts to a new and better future, one where humans care for one another and we no longer equate money to power. I’m calling on the universe to show us that love truly does conquer all, and I am leaning into faith over fear.

Anxiety

I woke up with some anxiety today, and I know where it is stemming from, but I am working hard to ask myself the questions to get myself grounded and calm. It’s all because my coworker called me after work last night and let me know she got two new jobs and she isn’t coming back tomorrow (aka today), and she asked if she could drop off her works keys to me to bring in today, so I am! I didn’t tell the other boss or anything yet because I will this morning and I figured I was off yesterday and would deal with it at work.

Although I haven’t done anything wrong and I cannot get in trouble for bringing in her keys, my anxiety keeps trying to trick me into saying I did something bad. But I know that I am not doing anything wrong by bringing her keys back to work, if anything that’s a great thing for me to do! I can’t get in trouble for not telling them yesterday, because I wasn’t working, nor would it have made a difference for today.

Honestly, even just taking the time to write this short post has calmed my physical anxiety down- it’s just writing it out to remind myself that I am okay and will be okay. No one can hurt me or fire me for doing this, and even if they did, I would figure it out. I can trust myself to navigate what life brings me, because I always make it through.
