I struggle because I LOVE foods that are horrible for me. I love McChickens, pizza, ice cream, mac and cheese, bread LOL. Basically sweets and carbs, give it here! If we’re going to be fancy thought, I love some lobster and crab legs!!
Share a story about the furthest you’ve ever traveled from home.
I read this prompt and immediately thought of the few Caribbean cruises I’ve been on since those were definitely when I was furthest away from home. I have so many good memories of these cruises with my husband and his family, but one of my favorites is from when we went to Grand Turk. We did an all inclusive excursion that had unlimited rum and cokes, so my husband (boyfriend at the time), and I were determined to get our money’s worth LOL.
After we were done with the excursion, I wanted to grab a souvenir for one of my friends back home! We went into a shop and I grabbed a cute little container with sand and shells in it that said Grand Turk (I think?) and called it a day. Once we were back home and I was unpacking and getting all of the gifts together, I realized that the cute little souvenir I got for my friend had a name on it… and it 100% was NOT my friend’s name (LMFAO)!
Obviously I couldn’t just turn around and head back to the shop to grab a new item with her name on it, so I ended up having to give my friend that souvenir and explain to her why it said Katherine on it when her name is Alexis. 😂 Overall not the end of the world and is a hilarious story today, but I learned that I should definitely do my shopping when I am NOT intoxicated!
What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?
I was looking up places to board my diabetic cat for when my husband and I take a trip to Florida! I found a place that will give take her in and give her the insulin shots! I feel so bad because she’s probably gonna think we’re giving her up, but she’ll realize that’s not the case once we come back to pick her up after a couple of days! Then hopefully she will remember that for future vacations. I just don’t have anyone I know who can give her shots at our home twice a day, and I know I could hire someone from Rover or something but I don’t trust strangers in our home either.
Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.
I got VERY excited today when my mother-in-law text me that I got some mail today because that means I finally got a letter from my new pen pal!!!! I have been following an astrology instagram account for a while now and very much enjoy all of the content and journal prompts, and the owner of that account had posted a story about how she wanted a pen pal and asked people to respond if they were interested.
I didn’t hear back for months, so I just assumed I didn’t get picked considering this account has a million followers. Randomly one day I get a DM from her stating that her last pen pal didn’t work out, and she wanted to know if I was interested! So I said yes and apparently my first letter arrived today! My mother-in-law let me use her business address since I really don’t want random strangers on the internet having my address, so that was a super exciting text to get!
My name is Jena, and it’s pronounced “Jenna.” The amount of times I was called “Gina” by substitute teachers really confused me as a kid! My name is Jena because originally my parents were thinking about naming me Genesis. I wouldn’t not consider myself religious, and honestly, I’m not sure if my parents really would consider themselves religious anymore either, but I definitely believe in a higher power.
Genesis refers to the origin or beginning of something, and me arriving in their lives as their first (and only) child was definitely a new beginning for my parents. When I was young my dad was in a band, and he wrote a song called “Jena Says,” which was a play on Genesis as far as I know. I should probably ask to hear this song, or at least read the lyrics at some point.
I’ve always had this dream of starting a podcast, and I’ve always said it would be called “Jena Says,” because it gives homage to Genesis and new beginnings, but it also gives me freedom to talk about any and all topics, rather than being limited to one genre. I know I’d talk about my healing and spiritual journey, but I’d also love to talk about dental insurance being horrendous and relationships and happy things! I’d also love to have friends and guests on to discuss topics that they feel passionate about!
It’s something I’ve had in my heart for a while, and I’m working on trying to get past self-sabotaging habits and breaking through perfectionism. I’m recognizing that I just need to start doing something regularly, even if it’s just writing up a paragraph or recording for five minutes. Cocoon season is right around the corner, so as I hibernate in my home, maybe I can dive into this dream.
What I love about where I live is the fact that we’re right across from a huge park with a walking trail, and we’re less than a five minute drive from our cute little downtown area. I also love that there’s not a lot of light pollution, so on clear nights the moon is super visible & you can see so many stars!
