What’s the trait you value most about yourself?

Empathy.

Although it sometimes feels like a blessing and a curse, I have grown to love this part of me so much. I’ve been on medications when all of my emotions and sensitivities were taken away from me, and I absolutely hated it; I felt like a completely different person. Now that I’m more regulated and actively in therapy, I have learned better ways to use and embrace this gift.

A great post! I agree that empathy is what makes us human, and it is utterly important! 🙂
Although, I’m wondering what you mean by “all of my emotions and sensitivities” being taken by medication? I mean, I take some mood stabilizers; the only thing they do is allow me to control my behavior, but my sensitivity is still with me…

I agree, it does make us human! & when I started my first medication for anxiety, I became very numb. like I would watch shows and movies that normally would have be bawling my eyes out, and I didn’t feel anything. I really didn’t care about anything either, and I didn’t like how I felt (or really didn’t feel) on it.
